What happened to the ORIGINAL Teaching Planet?
\n
\n"Evidently the founders of the 21th Century Learning Environment have adopted his philosophy and firmly believe that teachers should abandon their curricula and teach what is necessary and useful. I understand this point of view but I do not agree with it." and "I think that the teacher should decide how to teach content but he should not be given the freedom to abandon curriculum and replace it with what he feels is necessary. That would lead to chaos."
\n
\nGOOD! From reading the stuff in between, sounds like you might be in favor of a National Curriculum?
\n
\n
\n"It was interesting that some researchers felt that the gifted students would be hindered by cooperative learning if they were forced to work with lower performing students. On the other hand, others proved that the academic achievement of the gifted student does not suffer when he is grouped with the less capable student."
\n
\nHmmm...my question is, does the gifted student IMPROVE? Know what I mean?

\nYou have some nice insights!","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"18539471","body":"THETEACHINGPLANET WAS THE WIKI FOR WEEKS ONE THROUGH FIVE. TEACHINGPLANET1 IS THE WIKI FOR WEEKS 6-8. WHY? \nI AM NOT IN FAVOR OF A NATIONAL CURRICULUM JUST STANDARDS. TO IMPLEMENT A NATIONAL CURRICULUM WOULD BE VERY DETRIMENTAL TO THE CHILDREN AND THE TEACHERS. I CHAT WITH SEVERAL CHINESE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS. AS A RESULT, I HAVE LEARNED THAT THAT IS WHAT CHINA HAS. THEY ARE UNDER SO MUCH STRESS TO MEET THEIR STANDARDS. THEY ATTEND SCHOOL SIX DAYS A WEEK IN ORDER TO DO SO. WHO NEEDS THAT? WITH NATIONAL STANDARDS WILL COME NATIONAL PAY.
